Student Training

Marcrom's Pharmacy serves as an advanced community and ambulatory care student training site for the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy. We normally train 7-15 students annually, often including students from Samford University, the University of Florida, Mercer University and the University of Utah.

Each student is required to complete the following during his/her training:

  • 2 journal club presentations
  • Individual discussions with preceptors concerning various disease states
  • 1 patient presentation
  • 1 project presentation
  • Written final exam

The student must also display competency in prescription dispensing, patient counseling, patient assessment and communication with other healthcare professionals.

Here, one of our students presents to two of our staff pharmacists. Presentation skills are emphasized as a part of student training.

Ray Marcrom, Pharm. D., and Richard Randolph, Pharm. D., are faculty at the University of Tennessee and, along with the Community Pharmacy Resident, serve as primary preceptors.
