  1. Drain water out of canned green beans. Put green beans in saucepan with 1/2 cup chicken broth. Heat until boiling and simmer for about 5-10 minutes. This takes the canned taste out of the vegetable and adds a touch of protein. This could also be done in other canned vegetables.
